Are you ready to be crowned the ultimate vegan?

Mark your calendars: on 21st November, The Spread Eagle—London’s first fully vegan pub, will host the highly anticipated Big Vegan Quiz of the Year!

Designed to challenge even the most dedicated plant-based enthusiasts, this unique event promises a fun night of trivia and games, featuring prizes from iconic brands such as head sponsor Meatless Farm, THIS UK and Minor Figures, to name just a few. You might even score some VegClub merch!

VegClub caught up with quiz host Conor Green to get the inside scoop on this exciting event.

VegClub (VC): Hi, Conor! So, what exactly is the Big Vegan Quiz of the Year?

Conor Green (CG): The Big Vegan Quiz of the Year is a fun event designed to bring together the vegan community (and anyone who’s plant-curious!).

It’s not just a quiz! It’s a celebration of everything vegan, from food to culture and, of course, our love of animals!

Players can enjoy fantastic food, drinks, games and questions that will make them think, laugh and (hopefully) learn something new! We’ve got great prizes from some really incredible brands… I kinda wish I could keep them all for myself!

VC: What inspired you to host this event?

The Spread Eagle

CG: Being a quizmaster is my full-time job, so I always have quizzing on my mind. Also, I’ve been vegan for six years and I’m actively involved in the community, which is why a portion of the proceeds will be going to the local charity Made in Hackney.

We already have lots of vegan events focusing on food, so why not mix it up and offer something different? I’m excited to combine two of my passions to create a fun night to give back to the community that I love so much.

VC: Can you tell us a bit about your vegan journey?

CG: I stopped eating meat around the age of five. I was never able to disconnect what was on my plate from the animal it came from, and it got to a point where eating meat made me feel sick.

Luckily, I had parents who, despite eating meat themselves, supported my decision from a young age. As I got older and started learning about the devastating effects of the dairy industry, I started to reduce the amount in my diet.

When I met my partner, we were both vegetarian but keen to take that next step. We went vegan together six years ago and haven’t looked back!

VC: What’s one thing you want people to know before attending BVQOTY?

CG: Come ready to have a laugh!

You don’t need to be a vegan expert, but if you enjoy a bit of healthy competition, you’ll love it. The quiz is all about celebrating veganism in a fun, engaging way, whether you’re fully plant-based or not. It’s a chance to test your knowledge, learn something and meet like-minded people. And of course, win some incredible prizes!

Big Vegan Quiz of the Year

Although London hosts vegan events weekly across all corners of the city, the Big Vegan Quiz of the Year is completely different from anything you’ve participated in so far. Plus, on the day, you can indulge in a delicious menu at The Spread Eagle (food is not included in the ticket). 

The Spread Eagle is located at 224 Homerton High St, London and the event starts at 7pm on 21st November.
