Passenger was born out of a love for exploration, inspired by a desire to roam freely and embrace the great outdoors. Founded by Rich Sutcliffe and Alexa during their travels in the Pacific Northwest, the brand’s heart remains in the New Forest, where towering pines meet sandy shores. Passenger embodies the spirit of Meaningful Escapism, a philosophy that encourages people to break free from the everyday hustle, reconnect with nature, and embrace adventure.
More than just a clothing brand, Passenger is a movement. Its gear is designed to be lived in—fleeces, jackets, and backpacks that tell stories through the marks of past adventures. Every product is made with sustainability in mind, using responsibly sourced materials that ensure a lower environmental impact.
Sustainability woven into every stitch
Passenger is committed to reducing its footprint by integrating sustainable materials into its collections. Over 74% of the range contains responsibly sourced materials, with a goal to increase this number even further.

Passenger
Passenger’s philosophy extends beyond just making sustainable clothing—it’s about creating long-lasting gear that supports both the environment and the people who wear it.
Passenger x Uganda x Planet
Sustainability at Passenger goes beyond materials—it extends to meaningful environmental and community-driven initiatives. Through its partnership with Trees for the Future, Passenger supports reforestation and sustainable farming projects, particularly in Uganda’s Mt Elgon National Park.
For every order placed, Passenger plants a tree. But this initiative is about much more than just trees—it’s about empowering communities and transforming lives.
A first-hand look at impact
Passenger
To truly understand the difference their reforestation efforts were making, Passenger’s founder Rich and the team visited the farmers of Mt Elgon. They were welcomed into communities with open arms, songs of gratitude, and smiles that left a lasting impression.

Passenger’s partnership with Trees for the Future focuses on the Forest Garden Approach, an agroforestry system that helps farmers restore their land, diversify their crops, and improve their livelihoods.
A Forest Garden starts with a ‘green wall’, a three-row-deep barrier of calliandra plants that shields the land from harsh weather and livestock. Within these gardens, farmers cultivate a mix of fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants, and cash crops. After four years of training, farmers earn professional certification, empowering them to sustain and expand their farms.
Passenger’s visit highlighted incredible stories, such as Mary’s passionfruit climbers, beautifully arranged on a web-like structure above her permagarden, and local farmers growing coffee beans, which are sold at nearby markets and to wholesalers.
Empowering communities: The plant it forward initiative
To ensure long-term impact, Trees for the Future introduced the Plant It Forward initiative, where trained farmers pass on their knowledge to others, expanding sustainable practices across more communities.
Passenger’s team also explored Market Thursdays, where farmers travel long distances to sell their produce. Visiting the Bukigai market on the Kenyan border, they witnessed firsthand how Forest Garden farmers’ stalls stood out with a vibrant variety of fresh, sustainable produce.
Not to be missed: The Boondocker Recycled Camera Bag
Passenger
For those who love to travel and document their adventures, the Boondocker Recycled Camera Bag is a must-have. Inspired by road trips, this durable, water-resistant bag provides ultimate protection for camera gear. Its padded interior, moveable dividers, and multiple pockets ensure that every essential has its place. Whether on a mountain trail or navigating city streets, the Boondocker keeps photography equipment safe and ready for action.
A future built on responsible choices
Passenger’s journey to Uganda reaffirmed that sustainability is more than just a buzzword—it’s about creating a tangible, lasting impact. Through eco-conscious materials, sustainable manufacturing, and meaningful partnerships, the brand continues to push boundaries in ethical fashion.
For every product worn, every tree planted, and every adventure taken, Passenger proves that fashion and sustainability can go hand in hand. The brand invites consumers to be part of the movement—one order, one tree, and one journey at a time.
